When I spoke to him about it earlier this week he used the phrase “I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea” twice. I reckon that’s because when the channel is mentioned on radio sites the comments light up with people saying things like “dated”, “get a new act” and “heard it all before”.
Steve’s an opinionated guy on the current state of radio in the UK. He has his say regularly. Unlike almost everyone else who voices their opinion on radio and has a moan about how it has changed he’s done something about it … twice.
First he bought The Revolution and made the audience go upwards and now he’s launching his own channel on DAB.
If his new channel works then it shows the future of radio isn’t all generic music. If it doesn’t at least he got off his arse and gave it a good shot unlike, I suspect, most of the people giving him brickbats online.
For that reason alone I wish Steve the very best of luck.
