BBC Licence Fee – answer me this…

With a Parliament report on the future of the BBC licence fee there’s a been a good discussion on how the BBC should be funded and the bigger question of whether people should be forced to pay for the BBC at all.

There’s obviously great value and much to love at the BBC. There’s also a fragile commercial media industry on which the BBC impacts massively.

My question is why should home in the UK with a TV in it pay for this?

It’s entertaining, but apart from that does it add anything to national life? Does it provide something no one else does? I can’t see it.
